It’s October 31st, Jaclyn had just left work to go home and change for tonight’s corporate party. Feelings of happiness, excitement, and fear all rush through her veins. Happiness to her heart, excitement to her nerves and fear to her head. But this fear wasn’t of being scared, this fear was of how boring this party is going to be. Last year, something just didn’t feel right. There was a DJ, food, photo booth and paper halloween decorations hung from the banisters of some local high school gym. Nothing special besides balls of fake spider web on the floor. They started to feel like they back in the office, the after hours tone was missing. We were off work, at a corporate party with free drinks and food. But the vibe of a party was nonexistent.
Round Two
This year, Jaclyn was in charge of making the party arrangements. Eight o’clock comes and the doors are opened for the much hoped flock of employees. It had seemed that the bad impression of last year’s party tarnished any chance of this year being different. As the few walk in the shaded gymnasium is greeted with “oohs” and “aahs.” There were no balls of web, but instead fog scattered that same gym floor. While the walls had orange light flooding it as the fog added a spooky trait to the party. People were immediately snapchatting the party for their absent coworkers to see. Within an hour the gymnasium was packed and that’s when it started.
Groups of people were taking pictures of the custom coffin style bars, as the DJ was getting people to dance. The bleachers on the side of the gym lit up, and there was an image of a house with the windows open. The music stopped as the sounds of rain, wind and wood creaking started. Projected ghosts fly across the house and storm the open windows. The crowd now paying complete attention to this digital performance as skeletons rise out of the projected ground. Jaclyn was proud she found Light Up The Night and as she was leaving the party, her manager said to get the same company to do their December Corporate Holiday Party.
